I'm in therapy. My therapist strongly suggested I attend a Trauma Support & Recovery group. Ok, I said, thinking maybe my previous judgements of such groups were unfounded, having never actually attended any type of support group. Maybe, I thought, one could actually learn and grow from such a group. After 5 weeks of attending the once a week group, I can say that my previously conceived ideas about such groups have been nothing but validated.
So far, it has been a group where members speak of their trauma, seem to want others to sympathize or empathize with them, and actively participate in the wallowing of one's misery and trauma. I do understand that everything is relative. Everyone in the group has their own trauma and their own experience and their own feelings.
My question is this: Should a support group help people move on from their trauma, or is it meant to support people while they wallow in their own dysfunctions? |

| Lost in LJ |

So here I am trying to figure out the whole LJ thing. Of course I do not want to actually read a tutorial or anything so obsurd as that. I stumbled upon some friends' postings. One contained a link I thought would be worth clicking. It was. Then I couldn't get back to where I was. I couldn't go back. All I could do was close the page and start over. Grr. I had stumbled upon the friends in the first place, how was I to find them again? Well, I did find them but am still confused with navigating this site. Hmmm. I feel... old. |

| Connecting with new characters |

I've met some interesting characters as of late and most of them seem to dwell here or other such sites. Hence, my first post. I thought I'd look up some of the above mentioned characters to learn more about them. Hmm. The one I was most interested in seems to have neglected her account recently and I've learned nothing new. What I do know she is full of colorful energy, she licks people at dinner and is strangely attractive. Oh, and she wears dinnerware on her head. |
